The Rich Orc Auctioneer Guide-> Make 500g a day and be bored

Hello Peons of the nether reaches!

You thought'd a bit of pneumonia would have freed you from my grasp hadn't you.
Your obviously wrong, and dumber than I thought.
Be that as it may, today I give you an excerpt from one of my mini guides.  This little guide alone will net you a cool few hundred gold a day not doing a whole lot.

So first, follow my other little tidbit on getting Auctioneer and Auctionator installed and running.  DO IT NOW!!!

Anyway, the first thing that you'll notice when you run to the nearest auction house is this

Nifty graphics complements of the creators of Auctioneer!

Anyway the first thing you need to do is USE those scan buttons at least once a day, preferably twice a day once in the morning and once at night if you can.  This allows Auctioneer to get the data for your server and will help you make alot more money in the long run.

There are two kinds of scans they both pretty much do the same thing however they go about in two different ways.
1.) The normal play button one (outlined in purple) will take awhile but will eventually scan through everything.  You have to keep the auction window open while it completes though.

2.) The second button is alot quicker but it requires ALOT of resources of your computer. It pretty much requires a ton of RAM and processing power and uses it all to blow through the scan completing it in a few minutes (2-3) rather than the slower (6-15ish) slower scan.

This is a necessary step for using the search functions and Appraiser.

Speaking of the Search Tab, little tip for making some money.

When you click on the search tab you'll see a list of items on the left, like this:

Notice the left side listing of items that you can do with this function.  I'm not going to spill the beans for the whole guide but I WILL give you a little tidbit.

One thing you should be doing is using the Converter tab.  When you click this you'll get a list based on scans of items such as motes, Greater and Lesser Essences etc are the biggest money maker here.  Basically what is happening here is that Auctioneer is looking at say Greater Eternal Essence and saying, look you can buy this for 24g, break it up, and sell the three resulting Lesser Eternal Essences for 10g+ or even much more depending on the market.  I actually do this often.  The last time I did it I actually did the numbers I listed only I sold the three resulting essences for 23g apiece. I bought 4 Greaters for about 100g, They in turn created 12 Lessers.  I sold each of those for 23g.  By the time I subtracted my "investment" I made about 176g on the deal on top of getting my money back.  I do this all the time.  It isn't my main source of income, you can't make much money that way, but it took me about 4 minutes to buy and repost and then about 12 hours to sell.

If you keep a constant lookout for these things you can really capitalize and create a nice supplement to your income.

*Appraiser Note:*
Appraiser is the best way to sell your items. Well, its a really good way anyhow. When you click on the tab it will show you all the items in your inventory on the left.  When you click on and item it will show all the items it found in the last scan of what your selling and their prices.  It will also give you a suggestion on what it thinks you should sell them at based on your selection from the drop down tab located underneath its suggestion.  I typically tell new people to just use the market and let Appraiser undercut the competition for you, but undercutting isn't always the best way to go about making money with some things.

However, I'll explain that in the guide, for now and for noobs I recommend just using the defaults to start moving your product.

In the middle left of your screen you will see a slide bar that determines how large your stack is for stackable items.  Pay attention to what other people are selling as stacks.  Alot of items sell in stacks of 5,10, or 15 rather than a full stack of 20.  This is actually a good idea since it reduces the amount of gold people are paying all at once and allows you to post more of it.  It also helps with items like Frozen Orbs where people don't usually tend to use very many in crafting and don't want to buy a full stack of 20 for very large amounts of gold.

Anyway, thats my tidbit of the day.  I'll be posting a few more items from this, but the guide itself, which will be "for dummies" and those who are not harnessing the power of the expanded Auctioneer, will go on sale soon.  For way less than those other money grubbers try to fleece everyone for.

Gone but not forgotten.

So apparently, the shaman was wrong.  He claimed I just had some bad grog and that some frog leg stew would fix me up.  He was very wrong.  Two weeks later the witchdoctor found that I'm cursed.  He applied the proper hex remover but still, the near death experience has been interesting to say the least.

So don't fear, the guides and tips and reviews are still coming.  Just slower.

World of Warcraft Gold Making Tip of the Day: Selling old things like Relics

This really will be a shorter tip, well, because I can do that, and secondly, because there isn't really much do to with it other than what I tell you to.

I should do a longer one because the Rich Orc was sick and lounged all day on his Moca - Kodo skin luxury couch with an Arctic Fur bathrobe, but, I'm not going to.  Tomorrow, I should have a portion of at least 1 of my little Micro-Guides, as I've taken to calling them.

Anyway, onto the old stuff.

Relics of Ulduar:
First off They Look like this:

You can pretty much farm them anywhere in Storm Peaks. Like say around the Temple of Storms....OH HOLY MOTHER OF THRALL!!!!  FINE!!!

Your so needy its pathetic, fine here is a cute little graphic to get you started.  Now this is the GENERAL areas highlighted, you might have to move your heavy bottom about alittle more than the space these red areas cover.

It'll do your heart good anyway.  Maybe get rid that half a chocolate cake you just downed.

IF you can't find them from this, I can't help you anymore.  I would take the nearest zeppelin and jump off over the deepest spot you can find.

In all seriousness though, these are selling quite well for the time being, so I highly recommend doing some farming if your in the area, or trying to buy those real cheap ones and resell them for a profit to some poor sap whose so desperate go get whatever the heck these are good for that they'll break their little boar bank for you.

Use Auctionator (you did install that like I told you too right?) and figure out the prices for your server.  Right now on my home of Aggramar, they are going for a shade under a gold a piece.  You can sell these in a 200 stack (though I recommend stacks of 25 or 50 to move the product so to speak)

If you have anymore questions.  Don't call me.  I'm busy.

World of Warcraft Gold Making Tip of the Day: Tools of the Auction House Trade

TOYS!!!!!!

Happy Valentines Day to all you sweaty peons.  Seriously, I really mean it this time.

Anyway, today the Tip of the Day is all about the "Tools of the Trade".  To me, these are really just toys, but sure, tools as well.

In reality, you'll only need 2 major tools if you want to make oodles and oodles of Wow Gold.

  1. Auctioneer (Duh)
  2. Auctionator
If you don't know how to install and addon yet (it's ok, most noobs don't) head over to Curse , go under the World of Warcraft section and it should be one of the first things that comes up.  However, I reccomend installing the Curse Client and installing all your addons here.  Why you ask?  Because you then have a one button click to get the latest patch/update for the addon.

The Rich Orc isn't just Rich, he's also lazy.

But back in my day you had to go hardcore into the program folders and copy and paste this folder, blah blah....up the hill both ways.

Anyway, once you have the client installed and you download and installed Auctioneer and Auctionator (What? You didn't get it yet?  Holy Thrall!!!! Fine!!!) Auctionator and here is Auctioneer.

Now that you FINALLY have this all set up (I say with feeble hope in my heart) your going to need to know how to use them.

Auctioneer is pretty straight forward in its most basic uses but it does have some really nice capabilities.  I'll be going over ALL of them in a Tools of the Trade Guide (seriously, you can go really in depth) but for now, suffice it to say that Auctioneer:
  •  Allows you to see what other people are selling your same stuff for without having to search each item out
  • Can search for auctions outside the norm, (lower than usual) and bring them up for you to purchase if you so desire so you can repost at a later date for a tidy profit
  • Can actually run checks on the AH itself and over the course of time be incredibly accurate in suggesting sell prices and items to buy and resell.
Thats the gist of it anyway.  It does SO much more, but I recommend that while your just getting started, you let auctioneer run the scan to completion every chance you get for the first week or two so that it is "well informed" on the current prices.

Auctionator is another tool that I actually use more than Auctioneer.  This is because it is very, very simple to use, this is a pretty good video to show you what you need to do. Please excuse the cheesy, lame, night elf music.  It wasn't my idea.

Auctionator is designed to be very clean and easy to understand.  It also has the scan feature that I previously talked about, and in all honesty I use it more than I use Auctioneer's though I recommend doing both.

Here are some shots from the programmers.

Welcome to the Walmart of World of Warcraft Auction Housing

The World of Warcraft Tip of the Day

Ever wonder how many times that full stack of Pristine Hides or Arctic Furs sells for a gazillion dollars on your server?

The answer is not very often.  Why do you think that is?  I'll do alittle show and tell.

On the Aggramar server, Marrick is one of the best AH sellers and one of my main competitors (we both skin). In watching him, I noticed something about him. He doesn't often post full stacks of items.
Case in point, Savage Leather.
Right now there are a ton of saps trying to sell full stacks for several hundred a pop, Marrick sells to the everyman.  He sells in stacks of 5 which makes his prices easier to cope with for more people and he has a TON of auctions up and moves alot of product.

Most people will lose out on money because they try to squeeze out each and every copper from their sells. And when they don't sell it, they re-list it again, and again, and again.
Think like Walmart, in the long run you'll have more gold and sell more items.

Something to shoot for once you really settle in and start having multiple characters sending stuff to their bank is to have a couple hundred auctions revolving at one time.  This is actually easier to do than it sounds if you play on a regular basis.  Try and price your items so that they will MOVE.  Be aggressive with the pricing, not at the top, but just a bit over the halfway mark.

Circle Grinding

Circle Grinding, OH FUN!!
Here is a little tip, grind in a circle.  Let me further explain to those of you who are a bit, shall we say, "dense".
The concept of "circling" means that you end up where you started.  Of course, there are some things you need to make sure of before you just run off in circles.

  1. The area is filled with the item(s) and/or mobs you need.
  2. Your circle is large enough that the mobs/items respawn behind you before you make it back around to their area, but not so large that you lose time and run out of the "cluster".
  3. Find the cluster.  I'll give you an example using Green Crabs that you can farm Savage Leather and Savage Leather Scraps from in the Shimmering Expanse.
This concept really isn't that difficult to grasp but if you make it a habit you can really grind out stuff to sell quickly and even use it to power level your skills and professions.

So here goes my nifty little example.

First off, using my skinner, I found a "cluster" of green crabs.  This is an area where the mob/item spawns in high volume within a limited area.  This works great for grinding mobs because many of the respawn rates have risen over the last few patches and it pays off big time.

Welcome to the Shimmering Expanse
This little booger, The Green Crab, is what I'll be grinding today getting some more stacks of savage leather.

Now, as you can see this is a pushover neutral creature, I can take out 3-4 at a time without much of a problem so they are ideal for grinding and skinning.

Now the trick is to find their "cluster".  You'll see these guys scampering around everywhere, but if you tried to simply grind in a circle in any old place, you'll have little to show for your wasted hours.

Behold!  The cluster revealed!!

In case your a moron, the cluster is labeled in RED. That area from the edge of the Abyssal Depths to just outside the Silver Tide Hollow.  In this area, these crabs spawn every few feet.

Basically, when I circle grind this area, I head out to the Abyssal Depths ledge and then circle around that red area in a clockwise motion.  Speed is of the essence.  Pull as many as you can kill in a relatively quick time, loot, skin, and get moving again.
You can do that as long as you want because these crabs respawn FAST.  Then you go vendor the trash, AH the loot (I've even gotten up to 4 green items in an hour or so of grinding) and watch the dough roll in.  I picked up almost 4k gold in a few days just farming this little circle.

The concept in general works on many things, skinning, mining, herbalism etc, you just have to do alittle research to find the cluster first. Check the area out, find the things you want to skin, mine nodes, etc, look them up on wow head, or wow wikki and see where the normal zone for them is and they will show the cluster for them.  Circle grind it.  Rinse and repeat.

*NOTE*  For miners and herbalist, this can be a bit tricky.  You have to find an area where the nodes pop up with some regular frequency and are closer together.  The zone your looking in may not supply this ideal set-up for you so you should change zones, or forgo this method.  If you don't have a clustered area of items which respawn then you'll waste more time than you'll actually make money.  HOWEVER, there are several zones, even starting in Durotar, which have areas where you can circle grind ore.  Herbs are more difficult because they occur less frequently than most other items.

Basic Golden Concepts

  • Multiple Streams of Gold: Tapping into multiple market points to max out your income while you watch the gold roll in from your smart phone while your out on the town with your best girl.
  • Selling Aggression:  You have to know when you push the price limit and when to just take the hit and run. You can't be a push-over either.Once you figure out how you can take advantage of the limits and twist them into your favor, you'll win big.
  • Profession Mastery:  This is more than just having a character to disenchant everything you get, along with a character to harvest all the sell-able goods.  I'm going to teach you how to utilize all the available resources and have multiple characters generating you gold with minimal work.
  • Market Resources:  I bet you had no clue that there was anything out there other than Auctioneer to use for your trinket pandering.  Well there is and whats out there that you aren't using is the difference between the people who are taking tons of your money in the AH and the blind idiots your convincing to give you 50s for garbage.
  • Market Timing:  Timing is everything they say, and making gold in Wow is no different.  Yea, yea, you've heard it, "Always put your auctions up over the weekend to increase sales".  Get out of here.  Every schmuck with a White Tuxedo Shirt running around with a name like "Bankelot" knows that. What we're talking about is knowing when to sell your EXACT ITEMS and when to hold off. The market is constantly fluctuating.  If you put your precious Heavy Leather up at the wrong time, you'll see that everyone else is selling it for 5g a stack and you'll have to sell for less, but if you had just sold the day earlier you could have gotten  15g a stack.  Thats what I'm talking about here.  On Wednesday, I sold 12 items that I had picked up while finishing up some quests on my 83 Troll Shaman, one of my last to get to 85.  Between the skins he picked up, and the other random items that I got, I made over 1500g between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon.  Thats market timing.  If I sold the same 12 things today at the prices they were at this morning, I'd be lucky to get 500 if they sold at all.
So, In conclusion, These concepts are the basis for my own little pet project. I'll keep throwing out tidbits and samples and hey, maybe a few chapters if I'm feeling generous.  Keep checking back here and hopefully I'll beat some sense into that thick-browed noggin.

We're going to take a little trip.....

It's not always fun being the richest orc around.  I mean, it sucks when all your friends are dirt poor and can't afford the gear to play at your level.  I mean, between them and all the sniveling guild-mates who whine and complain-
" I need some gold for my epic flight!"
-and all the other junk they all want you to dish out for them it makes one think.
