Elementium Ore-gasmic Sales!

Ok, So after a brief siesta trying to figure out what changed with 4.1 and how to make money off it, I ran across this little tidbit.  Elementium Ore.  I know, I know.  It's now a new thing with 4.1, its been around etc.  BUT, you can make a ton of gold with elementium ore right now.  RIGHT NOW!

The reason is actually two fold.  Guess that would be two reasons then.

1. People need gear!  As always with an expansion people are needing new gear, and what does all that shiney gear need?  Elementium or Pyrite ore (sell pyrite, its also a money maker)  Not to mention all the other people like JC's who want it for gems and all the shiny bits that come out of it.

2. People need to level their Smithing.  Once they get to this stage of their smithing, things get allittle tight.  Elementium isn't just all over the place for the taking. (Well it sort of is) but most people don't want to spend the time to farm it.  Thats where you can usually turn a decent profit.

This is a map for farming Elementium Ore in Deepholm, created by Wow Strategy Guide.

I recommend Deepholm because you can also do the dailies there for some extra gold while your running around farming ore.  The areas for the dailies and the ore usually overlap so you can kill two birds with one stone and make a tidy profit all-around.  Also the extremely small chance to see and kill the rare dragon spawn for the mount also makes it worthwhile to head there.

Happy Mining all you silly peons.

How to be a Sand Dragon: 101

So, this post is going to be something a little different than my normal long-winded, yet insightful posts about wow and its riches.  This could make you rich, of course, but in reality, its all about being the coolest guy standing around in Org.  Nobody is cool in Stormwind.

Anyway, this is all about the Vial of Sands.  If you don't know what this is, I'll explain it so your pecan sized cranium can comprehend.  This makes you turn into a Sandstone Drake AND you can carry someone on your back.  Yea, its that cool.  Also, that expensive, selling for well over 50k apiece.  This is the Ferrari Mount of the World of Warcraft.  Everyone wants one, few have one.  But you can include yourself in that little number.

First Things First, this isn't easy.  But it might be worth it to you.

Anyway, lets get going.  First your going to need Archaeology as a secondary profession if you even want to begin hoping to find the recipe. From there, you will need a max level Alchemist to create your item because while the mount is no longer BoP, the recipe for the mount IS.  So, I would recommend if you have no characters with Alchemy, and are planning to avidly seek this out and were planning to start a new char anyway...well do so and level them all together with your character.

Your other alternative is to dump one of your current professions, and powerlevel alchemy.

You'll have to level your archaeology and in doing so, digging around and such, you'll keep finding more stuff.  Now there is no "level" that you need to reach to find this, some get it in the 200s some are maxed at 525 and still looking, better check your karma before you get started.

Anyway, the beauty of the item itself, is that it only costs about 29k in mats to make.  Sure, sure seems like alot to most people, but think of it this way.  Lets say, your making decent gold with your dailies etc and you want this drake.  Well, other people are willing to pay, so you paid 29k, which is lessened with the level 24 guild perk or the goblin racial. And your selling for about 55k.  That makes your money back twice over.  From there, you can do it again and again....see what I'm getting at?  Eventually, you'll have either gold cap or enough money to easily buy and make your own, so you can finally look cool.  Well, sort of anyway.

If your wondering how you could possibly make enough gold for the initial 29k investment for mats, well, check back, our guide series is coming to a close and we'll be posting all kinds of cheap guides and instructions on how to make money.  Heck, you'll probably end up like me, why spend the time working to get that, I'm fine with spending gold.

World of Warcraft Gold Making Tip of the Day: Hey, is that Volatile Water?

Ah, yes, its getting wet in here.  Moist, damp. Lovely.

Why?

Well its this little item right here:

Volatile Water : Wowhead

Thats right. The tip off the day is to find it, grab it, love it.  Oh, and don't drink it.  Its called Volatile for a reason.
That said, in the last few days these little babies have been selling faster than I or anyone else I know can get rid of them. Crazy I know.

The reason is simple really, almost EVERY profession uses these babies to craft some really nice stuff.  (Feel free to comp me anything you don't want).

Anyway, if your a fisherman (or er, fisherwoman) feel free to head to Tol Barad and fish away almost anywhere. Good stuff.

Don't fret though, if your not patient, like me, then you can just kill almost any water based mob in the Twilight Highlands and land some pretty smooth stacks of the stuff.  If you can't go to either of those areas yet, you can get some in the Throne of Tides instance, but you'll still have to be 79-80 to run that.  And not suck.

These are selling for around 13g a piece on most servers, some more, some less.  However, today I did notice that the market is starting to get alittle flooded.  Either dump all yours now, or go farm for a few days and sell them over the weekend, say post them on Saturday.

Anyway, thats the tip of the day!

The Rich Orc Auction House Master Sell of the Day: 3,000 gold in 30 Minutes

Fresh from the fields of blood and glory, I have a story to share.
Sit down round the fire, and let me share the glory of my master sell today.

Utilizing the same principals that I have been harping on you peons about I made 3000 gold while I slept.

How you ask?

Well, little bumpkin, pull upa log.

While scanning the AH, and using the SEARCH function on Auctioneer that I told you about. (You did pay attention right?)  I ran across some poor sap who DIDN'T KNOW THE VALUE of what he was selling.

Let me digress for a bit and explain my last emphasis.

If your going to make money on the Auction House, your going to have to understand the value of the things you are buying and selling.  The main problem I run into is people who don't PAY ATTENTION to what things cost.  I'm not talking about knowing how much every little tiny piece of junk cost so you can buy at 25 copper and resell at 55.  Thats called, "Wasting Time".

What I'm talking about is finding out the items that are selling on your server, what sells for the most, what items can typically me made, or resold for a decent profit more often.  What are people buying?  What is down, what is rising?

Don't think you can figure all that out?  Actually, its pretty easy.  Once you spend time looking around, reading the actual trades going on in trade chat, and in general playing experience.  You can also, and I strongly advise you too, get on The Under Mine Journal.  Check on your server and check the hot items list.  Look at the things you can afford to buy and resell, look at items related to skills you have, items you know where they are and you can obtain.  If you know how to get an item, go get it, if you know a sweet little spot that you realize this item drops in alot, GO GET IT.  Know and understand the items your dealing with.

Back to the story

So, as I said; I was doing some scouting on the auction house, decided that I had some time before I logged off, and wanted to see if anything was viable to reselling to the masses. This poor sap put up an Illusionary Bag for 500g.  Now if that seems like alot to you, re-read what I wrote about VALUE.  The mats for the bag are very difficult to make and if someone puts their mind to it, it will take about 2.5 WEEKS to make just one bag.  There is a reason that this 26 slot bag sells for anywhere between 4k-9k depending on the supply/demand.
I saw this and instantly bought it.
I ran to the mailbox, nabbed it, ran back and reposted it for 3.5k.  I logged off and went to sleep. Actually I saw that there was NO crystallized water on the AH, so I spend about 20g on some Eternal Waters, broke them up and sold the resulting water for 3g apiece. That was about 1:35 A.M.

When I checked  in the morning about 7:45 A.M. the bag was sold and every single one of those crystals. That was a total profit of 4k overnight from both items minus the investment.

Be smart. Pay attention and you'll make some serious dough.

The Rich Orc Auctioneer Guide-> Make 500g a day and be bored

Hello Peons of the nether reaches!

You thought'd a bit of pneumonia would have freed you from my grasp hadn't you.
Your obviously wrong, and dumber than I thought.
Be that as it may, today I give you an excerpt from one of my mini guides.  This little guide alone will net you a cool few hundred gold a day not doing a whole lot.

So first, follow my other little tidbit on getting Auctioneer and Auctionator installed and running.  DO IT NOW!!!

Anyway, the first thing that you'll notice when you run to the nearest auction house is this

Nifty graphics complements of the creators of Auctioneer!

Anyway the first thing you need to do is USE those scan buttons at least once a day, preferably twice a day once in the morning and once at night if you can.  This allows Auctioneer to get the data for your server and will help you make alot more money in the long run.

There are two kinds of scans they both pretty much do the same thing however they go about in two different ways.
1.) The normal play button one (outlined in purple) will take awhile but will eventually scan through everything.  You have to keep the auction window open while it completes though.

2.) The second button is alot quicker but it requires ALOT of resources of your computer. It pretty much requires a ton of RAM and processing power and uses it all to blow through the scan completing it in a few minutes (2-3) rather than the slower (6-15ish) slower scan.

This is a necessary step for using the search functions and Appraiser.

Speaking of the Search Tab, little tip for making some money.

When you click on the search tab you'll see a list of items on the left, like this:

Notice the left side listing of items that you can do with this function.  I'm not going to spill the beans for the whole guide but I WILL give you a little tidbit.

One thing you should be doing is using the Converter tab.  When you click this you'll get a list based on scans of items such as motes, Greater and Lesser Essences etc are the biggest money maker here.  Basically what is happening here is that Auctioneer is looking at say Greater Eternal Essence and saying, look you can buy this for 24g, break it up, and sell the three resulting Lesser Eternal Essences for 10g+ or even much more depending on the market.  I actually do this often.  The last time I did it I actually did the numbers I listed only I sold the three resulting essences for 23g apiece. I bought 4 Greaters for about 100g, They in turn created 12 Lessers.  I sold each of those for 23g.  By the time I subtracted my "investment" I made about 176g on the deal on top of getting my money back.  I do this all the time.  It isn't my main source of income, you can't make much money that way, but it took me about 4 minutes to buy and repost and then about 12 hours to sell.

If you keep a constant lookout for these things you can really capitalize and create a nice supplement to your income.

*Appraiser Note:*
Appraiser is the best way to sell your items. Well, its a really good way anyhow. When you click on the tab it will show you all the items in your inventory on the left.  When you click on and item it will show all the items it found in the last scan of what your selling and their prices.  It will also give you a suggestion on what it thinks you should sell them at based on your selection from the drop down tab located underneath its suggestion.  I typically tell new people to just use the market and let Appraiser undercut the competition for you, but undercutting isn't always the best way to go about making money with some things.

However, I'll explain that in the guide, for now and for noobs I recommend just using the defaults to start moving your product.

In the middle left of your screen you will see a slide bar that determines how large your stack is for stackable items.  Pay attention to what other people are selling as stacks.  Alot of items sell in stacks of 5,10, or 15 rather than a full stack of 20.  This is actually a good idea since it reduces the amount of gold people are paying all at once and allows you to post more of it.  It also helps with items like Frozen Orbs where people don't usually tend to use very many in crafting and don't want to buy a full stack of 20 for very large amounts of gold.

Anyway, thats my tidbit of the day.  I'll be posting a few more items from this, but the guide itself, which will be "for dummies" and those who are not harnessing the power of the expanded Auctioneer, will go on sale soon.  For way less than those other money grubbers try to fleece everyone for.

Gone but not forgotten.

So apparently, the shaman was wrong.  He claimed I just had some bad grog and that some frog leg stew would fix me up.  He was very wrong.  Two weeks later the witchdoctor found that I'm cursed.  He applied the proper hex remover but still, the near death experience has been interesting to say the least.

So don't fear, the guides and tips and reviews are still coming.  Just slower.

World of Warcraft Gold Making Tip of the Day: Selling old things like Relics

This really will be a shorter tip, well, because I can do that, and secondly, because there isn't really much do to with it other than what I tell you to.

I should do a longer one because the Rich Orc was sick and lounged all day on his Moca - Kodo skin luxury couch with an Arctic Fur bathrobe, but, I'm not going to.  Tomorrow, I should have a portion of at least 1 of my little Micro-Guides, as I've taken to calling them.

Anyway, onto the old stuff.

Relics of Ulduar:
First off They Look like this:

You can pretty much farm them anywhere in Storm Peaks. Like say around the Temple of Storms....OH HOLY MOTHER OF THRALL!!!!  FINE!!!

Your so needy its pathetic, fine here is a cute little graphic to get you started.  Now this is the GENERAL areas highlighted, you might have to move your heavy bottom about alittle more than the space these red areas cover.

It'll do your heart good anyway.  Maybe get rid that half a chocolate cake you just downed.

IF you can't find them from this, I can't help you anymore.  I would take the nearest zeppelin and jump off over the deepest spot you can find.

In all seriousness though, these are selling quite well for the time being, so I highly recommend doing some farming if your in the area, or trying to buy those real cheap ones and resell them for a profit to some poor sap whose so desperate go get whatever the heck these are good for that they'll break their little boar bank for you.

Use Auctionator (you did install that like I told you too right?) and figure out the prices for your server.  Right now on my home of Aggramar, they are going for a shade under a gold a piece.  You can sell these in a 200 stack (though I recommend stacks of 25 or 50 to move the product so to speak)

If you have anymore questions.  Don't call me.  I'm busy.
